Bhubaneswar: A 23-year-old youth of Bhubaneswar allegedly died by suicide on Saturday after losing Rs 7 lakh in online games like ‘Aviator’ and ‘Daman’.
The deceased has been identified as Bikash Nayak. He was found hanging at his home in Champapokhari under Laxmisagar police limits.
His family believe that he took the extreme step after incurring financial losses from gaming.
Police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the incident, focusing on the addiction issues and the financial losses he might have incurred from online games.
In December last year, Shasanka Sekhar Satpathy, a 22-year-old from Bhubaneswar, allegedly took his own life by hanging himself due to online gaming addiction and debt. He was reportedly playing online games for hours and became aloof for several days before his suicide. Though his family members rushed him to the Capital Hospital in critical condition, he was declared brought-dead by the doctors.
