Noida: Firefighters and rescue teams were kept on their toes in Noida since early in the morning on Friday after fires broke out at two locations.

While a massive blaze broke out in a flat on the 12th floor of a residential building in Sector 74, another fire was reported on the ground floor of a building in Sector 52.

The fire at Sector 74 broke out in a 12th floor flat of a 28-storeyed tower of the IVY County Society in Noida’s sector 74.

Fire department teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. The society falls under the Sector 113 police station area, as reported by NDTV.

The flames were first spotted around 8.00 am, and the fire spread rapidly, producing thick black smoke that was visible from a distance.

Firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control, and no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire remains unclear.

Authorities said that residents used the staircases to evacuate the building after the fire broke out. The entire building was cleared, and residents of nearby flats were also moved to a safe location as a precaution, the police said.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to reach the spot immediately, according to a statement issued in Lucknow.

“He instructed the authorities to expedite relief and rescue operations and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured, if any,” it stated, as reported by PTI.

The second fire was reported in the Gijhor area of Noida’s Sector 52. According to initial information, the blaze erupted in an office located on the ground floor of a building that also houses a hostel/PG on the upper floors.

The cause of the fire is unclear.

Pradeep Kumar Gupta, chief fire officer (CFO), Noida, said: “A fire broke out on the 12th floor of a society of County Group in Sector 75. We had rushed 7-8 tenders at the spot. Our officers also reached there and our brave staff doused the blaze using the society’s fire fighting system.”

“We also received information regarding fire in Sector 52. We formed separate teams for search, rescue and fire fighting operations. We used thermal imaging cameras, hydraulic platform and other modern equipment. The officers have reported that there has been no injury in the incident and fire has been brought under control,” Gupta added.

The incidents follows the massive blaze that engulfed the Flourish Stay Hotel in south Delhi’s Hauz Rani area on Wednesday morning. At least 21 people were killed in the fire, including foreigners. Several are admitted in hospital.

Those affected included medical tourists or attendants of patients undergoing treatment at nearby healthcare centres, including Max Hospital.
