Bhubaneswar: After major disruptions during Rath Yatra and death of three devotees in a stampede at Saradhabali in Puri, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is slated to visit the pilgrim town on Tuesday to review arrangements for the upcoming Bahuda Yatra and other rituals related to the annual festival.
Sources said the CM, to be accompanied by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, is slated to hold discussion with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and servitors to ensure the smooth conduct of upcoming events.
This will be the Chief Minister’s first visit to Puri after the tragic stampede near the three chariots at Saradhabali in front of the Gundicha Temple that claimed the lives of three devotees and left around 50 injured early on Sunday.
Majhi is likely to hold an important meeting with the servitors in the afternoon to discuss the measures being taken for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Bahuda Yatra and Sunabesha ceremony of Lord Jagannath and his siblings – Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
The CM’s visit aims to ensure a smooth and incident-free conduct of these sacred events, including Hera Panchami, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra, Sunabesha and Niladree Bije.
As lakhs of devotees are expected to gather for the upcoming rituals, the administration is bracing up to prevent any untoward incident and ensure a safe experience for pilgrims. The focus is on safety of devotees and smooth conduct of the rituals in a disciplined manner.
