New Delhi: An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on its way to New Delhi had to return to Hong Kong on Monday after the pilot suspected a technical glitch mid-air.
This comes barely three days after the devastating air crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday – involving an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner – in which 275 people have died so far.
Monday’s flight, operating with the name AI315, was scheduled to depart Hong Kong at 8.50 am (6.20 am IST) and reach Delhi by 12.20 pm. However, it took off 3 hours 9 minutes behind schedule. Barely an hour and 19 minutes after taking off, the pilot suspected a glitch and turned back.
On Sunday, a Chennai-bound British Airways Boeing Dreamliner had to return to London after it encountered a technical snag mid-air.
Initially scheduled to depart from London Heathrow Airport at nearly 12:40 PM on June 15, the aircraft took off at 1:16 PM, following a delay of more than 35 minutes. The Boeing 787-8 plane was scheduled to land in Chennai at 3.30 am.
However, the flight (BA35) remained airborne for only two hours before returning to London’s Heathrow. British Airways later issued a statement confirming that the aircraft landed safely and that all passengers and crew disembarked normally.
