Mumbai: After the unmatched success of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Sony Entertainment television is all set to bring the desi reboot of the popular global reality game show ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ to Indian television.
Insiders revealed that the game show will be hosted by Bollywood’s much-loved ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar.
“A show like Wheel of Fortune needs a host who feels approachable, warm and energetic. Akshay ticks all the boxes,” Hindustan Times quoted an insider as saying.
The game show, which was launched in the US in 1970s, offers quick wins, letter-guessing puzzles, luck, strategy and instant gratification.
Sony plans to retain the core structure of the international game show, while adding a little Indian touch to it, including Hindi and regional phrases, and special celebrity episodes.
Shooting is expected to commence in mid-January, and the show will be airing on Sony TV as well as on SonyLIV.
Similar to the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted KBC, Wheel of Fortune will reportedly focus on common people with their uncommon stories.
