New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and minister Atishi said on Wednesday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost 4.5 kg since he was arrested on March 21 but Tihar Jail officials have refuted the claim saying he is fine and has not lost weight since he was lodged in the jail two days back.
In a post on X this morning, Atishi said Mr Kejriwal is a “severe diabetic”. “Despite his health problems, he works round the clock to serve the nation. Between his arrest and now, Arvind Kejriwal has lost 4.5 kg. This is very worrying. The BJP is putting his health in danger. If something happens to Arvind Kejriwal, not just the country, even God won’t forgive them,” she said.

Notably, the Enforcement Directorate arrested the Delhi Chief Minister in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor policy. He was shifted to Tihar jail on Monday after he was remanded in judicial custody till April 15.
His weight was 55 kg when he was brought there. His weight, they said, remains unchanged. And his blood sugar levels are also normal now. They said he did yoga and meditation this morning and also walked in his cell, NDTV reported quoting sources in the high-security prison.
Kejriwal has been lodged in a 14X8 feet cell in jail number 2 of Tihar jail. His blood sugar level has been fluctuating over the past few days and had dropped below 50 at one point, according to reports. He has been given medicines to bring his blood sugar level under control. Media reports also quoted jail officials as saying that the leader has been provided a sugar sensor to monitor his blood sugar levels and toffees to arrest any sudden drop.
The Chief Minister is being served home-cooked food for lunch and dinner and his condition is being monitored. Jail officials have also posted a quick response team near his cell for any emergency.
