Bhubaneswar Student To Design Set For Lakmé Fashion Week

Bhubaneswar: A city-based student of interior design, Soubhagya Laxmi Rout, has been directly selected for making the set of the forthcoming Lakmé Fashion Week in Mumbai.

Soubhagya is a student of Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD), Bhubaneswar. She was selected in a regional contest hosted by INIFD in a Bhubaneswar hotel recently.

In the contest titled ‘Launch Pad’, budding fashion and interior designers at INIFD had showcased their innovative creations in front of a celebrity jury. The participants were asked to use sustainable materials for their creations in line with the cause for sustainability through path-breaking initiatives.

The closely contested event saw Soubhagya get direct entry for Lakme Fashion Week in the Interior Design category. She will now work with experts in Mumbai to design the set at Jio World Garden.

Inspired by Odisha’s culture, Soubhagya’s winning entry comprised the design of a flute bridge made of bamboo and decorated with incandescent lights.

The celebrity jury at the design presentation Bollywood actress Sonnalli Seygall was extremely impressed by the creativity of the INIFD students. The other jury members renowned fashion designer Payal Pratap, Phenotype Architecture Studio founder Anica Kochhar TV & OTT Personality , Neeraj Gaba and ‘The Voice of Fashion’editor Shefalee Vasudev.

The Lakmé Fashion Week will be held in February 2020.
