Block Grant Teachers’ Stir Enters Second Day
Bhubaneswar: The indefinite strike called by block grant teachers entered the second day at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Tuesday.
“The state government has betrayed us several times. In February, we had staged protest for fulfilment of demands, including withdrawal of the clause mandating submission of affidavit to avail grant-in-aid. The strike was withdrawn following assurance by the government that a notification will be issued regarding withdrawal of the affidavit clause. But, this time we have decided to continue agitation till the government brings out a notification over the same”, said Odisha School Teachers and Employees; Joint Forum convenor Golak Nayak.
On Monday, MLA Arun Sahu had met the agitating teachers at the strike venue and assured them to resolve their matter within the next two days.
The block grant teachers have been staging dharna in front of 57 matric evaluation centres since March 20 to boycott the High School Certificate (HSC) answer sheet evaluation process.
The agitators have also decided not to cooperate with the government in evaluation of Plus II answer sheets scheduled to begin from April 4.
