COVID-19: 30% Of India’s Cases Linked To Nizamuddin, Says Agarwal
Almost one-third of India’s confirmed cases of novel coronavirus are linked to the Nizamuddin cluster. According to figures revealed by Health Ministry official Lav Agarwal on Saturday, 1023 positive cases, across 17 states, have been found linked to the religious gathering of Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi, which is 30 per cent of the total number of infected people in India.
Giving the example of Nizamuddin, the ministry reiterated the pressing need to maintain social distancing and follow self-isolation. As many as 647 coronavirus cases reported over the last two days are linked the Jamaat gathering, confirmed the ministry.
Nearly 22,000 Tablighi Jamaat members and their contacts have been quarantined across the country so far, said Punya Salila Srivastava, joint secretary in the Union Home Ministry.
