Six More Succumb To COVID In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,098 on Sunday after six more deaths were confirmed due to the disease in the last 24 hours.
According to the Health Department, two fatalities were reported from Balasore and two from Puri districts and one each from Cuttack and Khurda districts.
Here are the details of the casualties:
1. A 44-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Diabetic Mellitus.
2. A 46-year-old male of Balasore district.
3. A 52-year-old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetic Mellitus & Hypertension.
4. A 64-year-old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Diabetic Mellitus.
5. A 45-year-old male of Puri district.
6. A 37-year-old male of Puri district.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,214 COVID deaths during the second wave as against 1,876 the previous year.
Around 6,000 fatalities were added in the last four months. August saw around 66 deaths a day, on an average, while it was 61 in July and 42 in June.
Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered last month, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June (1,272) and May (737), Health Department sources said.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 39 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
