COVID Jabs For Pregnant Women In Odisha After Training Of Health Staff

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 vaccination of pregnant women in Odisha will begin after training of healthcare staff according to Central guidelines.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Pradipta Mohapatra informed this in a letter to district collectors, municipal commissioners and chief district medical and public health officers (CDM &PHOs) on Saturday.

Mohapatra said the state government received a letter and guidance note from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on COVID vaccination of pregnant women.

According to Mohapatra, the ministry has communicated that an orientation of all the states will be conducted shortly on the guidance note. After this, the states will orient the district-level healthcare personnel on the guidelines, he added.

Considering the central directive, Mohapatra requested all district hospitals and medical colleges to wait till the training of the healthcare managers and workers on the guidelines is done before beginning to vaccinate pregnant women.
