Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under East Coast Railway (ECoR) conducted surprise raids at more than 20 places on Thursday to crack down on illegal e-ticketing agents, during which tickets worth Rs 15.21 lakh were seized.
Incriminating materials, including cash, modems, computers and other accessories worth more than Rs.5 lakh, were also recovered from the arrested persons, ECoR said in a statement.
“The raid was part of the ongoing war against illegal e-ticketing business being conducted across the nation, including Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Berhampur, Kantabanjhi, Rayagada, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Mahasamund,” it added.
The mission was nicknamed as ‘operation thunder’.
Information was gathered about the touts and their modus operandi before the raids were carried out under the command of IG & Principal Chief Security Commissioner of RPF Sri Raja Ram.
