Noida: Farmers from Uttar Pradesh, under the aegis of BKU (Bhartiya Kisan Union), gathered around Monday noon at Maha Maya flyover, Noida to begin their march to the Parliament complex in Delhi, where the Winter Session is currently going on. They are conducting the march to press for five key demands for compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.
The planned protest resulted in massive traffic jams at the Noida-Delhi borders as police scaled up security measures, reported the India Today. Barricades were installed. Cops were checking vehicles and diverting routes in Delhi-NCR.

What are the farmers seeking?
The farmers are demanding an allocation of 10% plots and 64.7% increased compensation under the old acquisition law. They also want children of landless farmers to be given the benefit of jobs and rehabilitation. The protesting farmers belong to the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and other allied groups, including the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM). The protest is being led by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa. They will march towards Delhi on foot and tractors.Farmers from 20 districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Aligarh and Bulandshahr, will take part in the march.
Cop arrangements
Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have put up barriers on the Noida-Delhi border points to prevent the farmers from marching into the national capital. Police have advised people to use the metro to avoid traffic congestion.
“Over 4,000 police personnel have been deployed. There is three-layered security. Some farmer leaders have been detained. We will not allow the farmers to go to Delhi at any cost,” additional CP (Law and Order) Noida, Shivhari Meena said, as quoted by India Today.
Know route diversions
Entry of all types of goods vehicles has been banned on the route from Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
- Vehicles going from Chilla Border towards Greater Noida can reach their destination via Sector 14A Flyover, Golchakkar Chowk, Sector 15, Sandeep Paper Mill Chowk and Jhundpura Chowk.
- Vehicles going from DND Border to Delhi can reach their destination via Film City Flyover to Sector 18.Vehicles coming from Kalindi Border Delhi can reach their destination via Mahamaya Flyover to Sector 37. Vehicles going from Greater Noida to Delhi can reach their destination via Charkha Roundabout to Kalindi Kunj.
- Vehicles going from Greater Noida towards Delhi will be able to head towards their destination via Hajipur underpass towards Kalindi Kunj and from Sector 51 to Sector 60 via Model Town.
- Vehicles heading towards Delhi using the Yamuna Expressway will be able to go to their destinations via Jewar toll towards Khurja and Jahangirpur.
