Bhubaneswar: After the hiatus for almost a year due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Ollywood is back in action with patriotic movie ‘Sahid Raghu Sardar’ set to release in theatres on April 25.
Based on freedom movement of India, particularly Odisha, the film is based on the struggle of a young freedom fighter Raghu Pattnaik against the British rule. This is the first Ollywood biopic on a martyr from Odisha.
While Biswanath Patnaik has produced the movie, Rajeeb Mohanty is the director. Actors Pintu Nanda, Akhaya Bastia, Jina, Rudra, Twinkle and Santosh will be seen in other characters of the movie.
The songs of the movie have been penned by Arun Mantri, Bijaya Malla and Ranjan Das while Bikash Sukla has scored the music. Popular singers Humane Sagar, Asima Panda and Dipty Rekha have rendered voice for the songs.
The story revolves around Raghu Pattnaik, a native of Barala village in Bayalis Mauja in Cuttack district. At a very tender age, he had developed a feeling of vengeance against the Britishers for their atrocities on Indians.
When Raghu was young, he went to Kolkata. After getting a job there, he took many of his fellow villagers to that city and helped them find work.
The patriot then formed an association of the Odias in Kolkata to raise a voice against British rule. He was punished several times by the Britishers for his activities and was finally murdered in jail.
The movie was made under the banner Lok Vikash Cine Productions.
