Bhubaneswar: As most parts of Odisha continued to shiver amid winter chill, G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, remained the coldest place in the state for the fourth consecutive day recording 5 degree Celsius on Sunday.
With the state reeling under intense cold, at least nine places recorded temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
While Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius, in neighbouring Cuttack the mercury stood at 14 degrees Celsius. Temperature in both the cities rose marginally.
G Udayagiri continued to be the coldest at 5 degrees Celsius, slightly up from 4.6 degree C recorded on Saturday.
Other places in the state also recorded low temperatures, with Similiguda at 5.9 degree Celsius, Phulbani at 8 degree Celsius, and Daringibadi at 8.5 degree Celsius. Koraput reported a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius, while Rourkela recorded 9.5 degrees Celsius.
Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna, and Nabarangpur were among the other places that witnessed a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius each.
The weather agency predicted that there would be little respite from the cold wave for at least the next 24 hours. However, temperatures may increase slightly by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius from Monday.
