Govt Schools In Odisha To Remain Open On Sundays!
Bhubaneswar: With an aim to improve Class X results, the Odisha government is planning to start classes on Sundays.
According to sources, it will be first implemented in Ganjam district since government-run schools here have scored poorly in the board exam.
As many as 340 students, studying in 638 government-run schools in the district, had secured very poor marks. The headmasters were instructed to submit written explanation with reasons for poor result in their schools.
Bhanjanagar High School had proposed opening schools on Sundays to the Education Department.
The report said that six days of teaching in a week was not sufficient. If the students attended schools on their own accord on Sundays, they would definitely score better.
However, on Sundays, only one or two subjects would be taught, it added.
