Two girls – Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora – have jointly secured first position in the Class XII CBSE exams, results of which were announced on Thursday.
Hansika and Karishma scored 499 out of 500 marks each. The former is a student of DPS Meerut road-Ghaziabad and the latter from NC Public School (Muzaffarnagar).
Tied for second position with 498 marks each are Gaurangi Chawla (Nirmal Ashram, DeepMala Public School, Rishikesh), Aishwarya (Kendriya Vidyalaya, Rai Bareili) and
Bhavya (BRSK public school, Jind, Haryana).
The overall pass percentage stood at 83.4 per cent.
According to CBSE, the top performing region was Trivandrum with a pass percentage of 98.2. The results are available on its website www.cbse.nic.in.
Girls have done better (9 per cent more) than boys.
Girls’ pass percentage: 88.7 per cent
Boys’ pass percentage: 79.40 per cent
The third place was jointly secured by 18 students. None of them were from Odisha.
In all, 17,693 students scored in excess of 36 and 94,299 students scored above 90 per cent, said a CBSE statement.
Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas put up the best show in the exam, with a pass percentage of 98.54 and 96.62 per cent.
The pass percentage of government schools stood at 87.17 per cent and in the case of government-aided schools, the pass percentage stood at 88.49 per cent.
The pass percentage among transgender students was recorded at 83.33 per cent.
