Heavy Rain Lashes Khurda & Ganjam; Thundershower To Continue, Slight Rise In Temp After Feb 29
Bhubaneswar: Light rain/thundershower is likely at some places in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar till 3 pm, the India Meteorological Department informed on Sunday.
The doppler radar at Paradip also showed that rain/thundershower are continuing in some parts of Angul and Cuttack
According to the weather agency, light to moderate rainfall occurred at a few places in South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places in remaining districts of the state with heavy rainfall at one or two places in Khurda and Ganjam. The state capital also experience heavy rain last night, leading to a slight drop in night temperature. The city recorded 19.9 degree Celsius.
IMD scientist Umashakar Das informed that Odisha is likely to experience light to moderate rain till February 27 with a trough running from Chhattisgarh to north Tamil Nadu across Vidarbha and interior Karnataka. “The coastal districts from Balasore to Ganjam are likely to experience rain under its influence,” he said.
There will be no large change in the minimum temperature across Odisha during next 4-5 days and so is the case with the day temperature, which my increase slightly after February 29, he added.
RAIN FORECAST
FEB 25: Light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely at a few places in North Odisha, Sonepur, Balangir, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam and at one or two places in Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Gajapati.
FEB 26: Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, and Sambalpur districts.
FEB 27: Light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, North Coastal Odisha, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri.
FEB 28: Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, and Balasore.
Dry weather is likely to prevail across Odisha thereafter, it added.
