Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts of Odisha till around 5.30 pm on Friday.
Moderate thunderstorms with surface wind reaching 40 to 50 kmph, lightning and intense rain may lash most places in Kataka, Jagatsinghpur, Debagada, Khordha and Sambalpur.
Similar warning with light to moderate rain was issued for Kandhamala and Sundargada till around 3.40 pm.
The IMD further stated that thunderstorm, lightning and light to moderate rain mayoccur at one or two places in the district of Mayurbhanj, Sundargada, Jharsuguda, Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Anugola, Puri (including Puri city), Nuapada, Boudh, Nayagada, Sonpur, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Kenderapada, Jajpur, Kalahandi and Dhenkanal till 6.20 pm.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
