IMD Issues Cold Wave Warning For Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued intense cold wave warning for Odisha in the next 24 hours.

In an evening bulletin, the IMD said that under the influence of the upper air trough from Tripura to North Coastal Odisha, cold wind has started blowing from the sub-Himayalan West Bengal across Odisha. As a result, there will be a sharp fall in the night temperature by 4-6 degree Celsius in most parts of the state, especially in the interior north, west and southern districts. Besides, there will be dense fog in some parts of the coastal and interior districts.

The bulletin further said that intense cold wave condition will prevail till January 1 as there will be no change in the weather condition.

In view of the intense cold wave, IMD has issued yellow and orange warning for the following districts:

Yellow warning (December 28)
Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul and Mayurbhanj

Orange warning (December 29)
Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore

Orange  warning (December 30)
Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Angul.

Apart from this, IMD has also issued yellow warning for dense fog in most parts of the northern districts, Kandhamal, Puri, Khurda, Sonepur and Kalahandi on December 28 and most parts of the coastal districts, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal on December 29.

It also said that there will be light to moderate rainfall at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sonepur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal on December 28.
