Jaipur: Vaibhav Suryavanshi is 14 years and 32 days old. At an age when boys are in 8th standard in school and playing cricket in a local club or academy, the kid from Bihar is rubbing shoulders with accomplished pros and setting the IPL on fire.
After a blazing 34 off 20 balls on his IPL debut – youngest ever to play in the world’s most competitive T20 league – Vaibhav on Monday took power hitting to a different level by smashing a century off just 35 balls!
Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals along with Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav threw caution to the winds and raced to 50 off 17 balls and 100 off 35.
Experienced bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Krishna and Washington Sundar were treated with contempt as fours and sixes flew off his bat with amazing regularity.
By the time he was dismissed for 101 off 38 balls, Vaibhav had clobbered 7 fours and 11 sixes.
He scored the fastest 50 and 100 of IPL 2025, and also became the second-quickest centurion in IPL. Chris Gayle holds the record (30 balls).
Yashasvi, himself a powerful ball striker, played second fiddle as he and fellow-leftie Vaibhav breezed to 166 in 11.5 overs as Rajasthan chased a target of 210 set by Gujarat Titans.
