Bhubaneswar: Noted industrialist Karan Adani, CEO of Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar on Thursday and discussed avenues for industrial collaboration and infrastructure development in the state.
During the meeting, held at Lok Seva Bhawan, discussions were held on expediting a gamut of projects that the Adani Group has proposed in the state.
Attended by senior state government officials, the meeting dwelled on issues like approvals, land identification / acquisition, and ground realities. It was decided to set timeframes for each proposed project and sort out issues causing delays, official sources said.
Discussions were believed to have been held on Adani Group’s upcoming projects in the state, including proposed bauxite mining, and aluminium and power facilities. Bottlenecks pertaining to the proposed investments including those in Rayagada district and land acquisition related issues were discussed.
In Odisha, the Adani Group has, among others, has proposed the following projects:
1) Alumina Refinery project and Captive Power Plant in Rayagada district.
2) Bauxite mining at Kutrumali (Rayagada district) and Balada (Koraput district).
3). Aluminium smelter unit in Kataka district.
4). Integrated Coal Gasification and coal-to-chemicals plant at Bedabahal in Sundaragada district (approved by high-powered committee envisaging investment of around 80,000 crore).
5) Second phase expansion of Dhamra Port.
6) Cement facility in Kataka district.
7) Ultra Super Critical Power Plant in Kataka district.
8) Healthcare facility in Khordha district.
9) MRO (maintenance, repair & operations) unit.
10) Integrated cement plant in Malkangiri district.
Senior officers, including Development Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Dev, and ACS (Housing & Urban Development) Usha Padhee were present at the meeting. They assured that necessary steps will be taken to sort out all issues to ensure expeditious implementation of the proposed projects.
