New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have been going hammer and tongs at each other as the marathon Lok Sabha election approaches its fourth phase.
But is there a chance of the two leaders coming face to face for a debate?
Well, they have got an invite for a public debate on Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from three eminent personalities — former Supreme Court judge Madan B Lokur, former High Court Chief Justice AP Shah and veteran journalist N Ram.
The invitation letter, sent to 7 Race Course Road and 10 Janpath, respectively, states that the public have heard only allegations and challenges from either side and not any “meaningful response.” Since today’s digital world has a great propensity for misinformation, misrepresentation and manipulation, they underscored the importance of making the public well-educated about all aspects so that they can make an informed choice at the elections, the trio wrote.
They believed that citizens would benefit hugely by hearing from the political leaders through a non-partisan and non-commercial platform.
“A public debate such as this would therefore set a great precedent not just by educating the public but also in projecting the true image of a healthy and vibrant democracy,” stated the letter which was shared by Ram on his X handle.

Will Modi and Rahul play ball?
If they do, it will be a first involving the leaders of the two largest parties in Indian political scene.
