Cuttack: Actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty skipped the mediation session, which he was required to attend with his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini on Tuesday.
It may be mentioned here that the Cuttack SDJM court had referred the restoration of conjugal rights petition filed by Varsha to the mediation centre for which it had appointed lawyer Smruti Ranjan Patnaik as the counsellor.
As per the schedule, a notice was issued to the actor couple to appear at the centre on Tuesday. Although Varsha reported at the centre with her counsel, Anubhav was conspicuous by his absence.
After informed about Anubhav’s absence, the SDJM court directed him to appear at the centre on April 16.
It may be recalled that Anubhav had appeared in the SDJM court on December 18 last year and refused to join the mediation process offered to him by the court to resume the marital relations, saying that he had confidence in the judiciary and his divorce suit was pending in Patiala House Court in New Delhi.
The Supreme Court on October 16 last year had stayed the divorce petition filed by Mohanty in the Patiala House Court and asked counsels of both the parties to sort out the matter through discussion.
The apex court, while hearing a petition seeking transfer of the divorce suit, referred the case to a mediation centre for settling the disputes between Anubhav and his wife Varsha.
