Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha’s Jharsuguda dropped by 8.4°C in the last three days.
The western Odisha town had recorded 17.6°C in early hours of December 29, and 15.2°C on December 30 and 11.6°C on December 31. The mercury dropped further from Zero Night and stood at 9.2°C on New Year, which is 2.8 below normal.
G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, was the coldest place in the state in the last 24 hours, recording 6.2°C, followed by Semiliguda in Koraput at 10.1°C and Sundargarh at 10.7°C. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 16.4°C and 15.2°C respectively, compared to 18.1°C and 16.5°C the previous day.
The minimum temperature is likely to fall further by 2-3°C during the next 24 hours with no large change thereafter, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The weather agency has also warned of dense fog at one or two places in Angul and Kandhamal districts till Thursday morning. .Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Nayagarh.
Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nayagarh may continue to experience shallow to moderate fog during the subsequent 24 hours.
