Bhubaneswar: In a horrific incident, two occupants of a car escaped with minor injuries after dashed against their vehicle and dragged it for around 500 metres in Bhubaneswar.
According to information, a speeding truck rammed into the car near Satya Vihar Square and dragged it for nearly 500 meters along the road towards Pahal. The car got dragged by the heavy vehicle before it got stuck on a bridge.
Sources said a man and his niece who were travelling in the car had a miraculous escape and both escaped with minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the truck driver did not stop after the collision though people at the site shouted and tried to alert him. The truck continued dragging the car for a long distance. Only after the car got stuck to the bridge, the truck sped away.
After receiving information, a team from Mancheswar Police Station reached the accident site and launched a chase. The police successfully tracked down and intercepted the truck. The truck driver has been detained and is currently being interrogated.
Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicant.
