New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was didn’t budge from its demand for Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET-UG paper leak scandal, and ultimately had their way thanks to students and Gen-Z joining their protest.
Now, the CJP is asking for the resignation of Bar Council of India (BCI) chairman Manan Kumar Mishra after Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant slammed the Council for intervening in the matter involving the NALSAR University of Law and CJI.
“Moral responsibility commands that Manan Kumar Mishra resigns. Cockroaches both inside and outside courts should ensure this happens,” CJP co-convenor Saurav Das posted on X on Friday.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke echoed similar thoughts on Thursday night after BCI chairperson Mishra was forced to withdraw a directive, mandating that no state bar council should enrol any NALSAR 2026 graduate, following heavy backlash.
“Time for Manan Mishra isteefa do?” Dipke wrote on X.
In its first order on Thursday evening, Mishra directed state bar councils not to enrol any 2026 law graduate from NALSAR University as an advocate until further orders.
The order was related to around 450 NALSAR students objecting to the institute’s invite to CJI Kant to be the chief guest at the university’s convocation.
Within hours, the Bar Council retracted its order, saying NALSAR students won’t be barred enrolment.
In a strong response, the chief justice said the Council had “no business” getting involved in the students’ right to protest. He also made it clear that the court won’t permit students to be prevented from raising their concerns through lawful and peaceful protests.
