Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has ordered a judicial probe into nine cases since 2010, said Energy, Industries and MSME Minister Dibyashankar Mishra in the State Assembly on Monday.

The minister, while replying to a question of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narainsgha Mishram on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said of the nine cases, the state government has received four reports while three of them have been presented in the State Assembly.

Referring to the Chit Fund probe, the minister said the state government has made an expenditure to the tune of Rs 5,55,30,000 towards the expense incurred by the Justice MM Das Commission of Inquiry. Besides, the state government has spent Rs 22 lakh towards Justice Raghubir Das Commission of Inquiry to probe into the missing Ratna Bhandar keys of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. “The Commission has submitted the probe report, which is being examined by the government,” Mishra added.

To another question by the CLP leader on the probe report of the Kunduli gang rape, Gumudumaha firing case and the SUM Hospital fire cases, the Minister of State for Home, Prafulla Mallick said the government is yet to receive the reports.

He, however, said that the government has taken action in the Pipili gang rape case.
