Odisha LS Polls: BJD Adopting Coercive Methods In Berhampur, Says BJP Candidate
Berhampur: BJP has accused Odisha government of creating a fearful atmosphere in Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency in Ganjam district by coercive methods.
Speaking at a party workers’ meeting in Chhatrapur on Friday, BJP’s candidate for Berhampur seat Pradeep Panigrahi said the ruling BJD was engaging government officials in election works of the party. The se officials were threatening the voters who support the BJP, he added.
“Some influential government officers are now working as BJD workers in Berhampur. A former IG is threatening the local BJP leaders and workers against campaigning. He is also telling the leaders not to quit BJD and to continue working for the party,” said Panigrahi.
Without taking any names, Gopalpur MLA said some senior government officers are transferred to Berhampur during elections and later shifted back to their original places. During their posting here, these officers mobilise all sources in favour of the BJD, he alleged.
