OMC Aims At Safety Protocols Of International Standard In Odisha Mines
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) is engaged in technical intervention to take safety protocols in the mines under it to international standard.
This was revealed at the Corporation’s Safety Conclave-2022 held in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Addressing the delegates, DK Singh, Chairman, OMC said more concerted and sustained efforts in safety management will take OMC in line with international standards.
Balwant Singh, MD, OMC, said there has been a cultural shift in safety in OMC in recent years. “The theme of last financial year at OMC was ‘Safety First – Avoid the Worst’. The company is leveraging technological interventions including Safety Management System, Fleet Management System, etc. to achieve Zero Harm,” he said.
Safety Officers of different mines of the Corporation interacted with the safety professionals and thought leaders to learn the best practices. They deliberated on the latest developments and information on safety while offering ideas for general improvements in safety in the mining sector.
Different papers like Safety and Incident Management, Equipment Safety, Application of IoT in Mining, OHSE Management, Electrical Safety and best practices in mining sector were presented. Prizes were awarded to employees and partner agencies under various categories at the conclave.
Satyajit Mohanty, Director (Finance); Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director, Technical (Operations); Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Personnel); Dr Kshirod Chandra Brahma, Director Technical (Project & Planning) along with Director Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar and Deputy Director Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar, Senior officials, Regional Managers and Mines Managers of OMC, Mine Operators, Mining Developer & Operators, Contractors, other stakeholders were present.
