Omicron In Odisha: SCB Cuttack Ready To Deal With Surge; Check Dean’s Advice
Cuttack: The SCB Medical College & Hospital here is fully prepared to deal with the surge in COVID-19 cases fuelled by the Omicron variant, said Prof Dateswar Hota, Dean & Principal.
He urged people not to panic and avoid visiting the hospital unless there was a medical emergency, as admissions and severity of COVID infection remain low.
Patients with minor diseases can call the 24X7 telemedicine facility at the hospital and avoid visiting OPDs, he said.
On arrangements at the hospital to deal with the surge in COVID cases, he said there were 600 beds, including 140 ICU beds, ready. There are 11 beds in the fever clinic with oxygen facility.
Prof Hota said there were adequate doctors working round the clock, enough oxygen units and medicine stock. There are four dialysis units for COVID-infected kidney patients, 40 beds for pregnant women with COVID and a special operation theatre for COVID patients.
This time, no patient has required ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) treatment at the hospital so far.
