Bhubaneswar: The first selection merit list for admission into undergraduate (UG Degree/+3) courses for the 2026-27 academic session was published on Monday, with 1,78,782 students securing seats across higher educational institutions across Odisha.

According to statistics released by the Higher Education Department, admission will be conducted against a total sanctioned seat strength of 2,87,327. A total of 2,37,200 students had applied for admission this year.

Out of the 1,78,782 candidates selected in the first phase, 69,182 are male students, 1,09,591 are female and nine are transgender applicants.

The data shows that girls continue to outnumber boys in UG admissions across colleges in the state.

Ravenshaw University in Cuttack recorded the highest cut-off marks in several streams. The highest cut-off in the Arts stream was 94.50 per cent for Political Science, while the Science stream registered cut-offs of 96.50 per cent in Physics under Physical Science and 94.83 per cent in Zoology under Biological Science. The university also recorded the highest cut-off in Commerce at 89.17 per cent.

In other streams, Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (Autonomous) College, Bhubaneswar, recorded the highest cut-off of 92 per cent in Computer Science under the self-financing category.

Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack, posted the highest cut-off of 89.40 per cent for its five-year integrated B.A. LL.B course, while Brajakishore Sanskrit Degree College, Garhbishnupur, registered the highest cut-off of 67.57 per cent in the Shastri stream.

Of the selected students, 1,12,822 secured seats in the Arts stream, followed by 43,693 in Science, 15,624 in Commerce, 3,371 in Shastri, 3,245 in self-financing courses and 167 in Law.

Students opting for the ‘Freeze’ option have been advised to report to their allotted institutions between June 23 and June 25, from 10 am to 5 pm, to complete admission formalities.

Candidates choosing the ‘Slide’ or ‘Float’ option are required to pay the admission fee for their allotted seats and await the second round of selection.

Students allotted their first preference but unwilling to take admission can avail themselves of the newly introduced ‘Alter’ option to modify their choices through OTP-based verification.
