Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held an impressive roadshow and greeted people in Bhubaneswar soon after his arrival in the city to attend a grand event marking the completion of one year of BJP government in Odisha.
Thousands of enthusiastic supporters lined up on both sides of the road as PM Modi’s motorcade proceeded from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) to the Janata Maidan, where the main event is being organised.
On his arrival at the airport earlier, the Prime Minister was accorded a rousing welcome. He was received among others by Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, MP Sangeeta Singh Deo and a number of senior BJP leaders.
Enthusiastic fans waved flags and chanted slogans as the PM’s motorcade passed through amid tight security. The celebratory atmosphere underscored the growing support for the BJP in Odisha, a state where the party recently secured a historic mandate.
Several cultural troupes from across the state also performed on the occasion as Modi was greeted with a traditional welcome in Odia style. The route featured vibrant Odia folk music and dance performances, showcasing the state’s cultural heritage.
Modi travelled through Capital Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhawan Chowk, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Jaydev Vihar Square and Nalco Square to reach Janata Maidan.
Concluding his roadshow, the Prime Minister reaches Janata Maidan accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and BJP state president Manmohan Samal.
The PM is scheduled to address a public meeting at Janata Maidan and unveil the Odisha Vision Document 2036, the blueprint for making Odisha a developed state by the centenary year of its formation.
Modi is slated unveil Odisha’s Vision Document, outlining a long-term roadmap for the state’s growth. He will also launch several new development and welfare projects worth over Rs 18,600 crore.
Elaborate security arrangements were made for the PM’s visit. A total of 135 police platoons, 16 DCP-rank officers, 33 additional DCPs, 93 ACPs, 100 inspectors, and 450 SIs and ASIs have been deployed in the city to maintain order during Modi’s visit. The city has been declared a ‘No-Drone, No-Fly’ zone from the airport to the event venue to ensure safety.
