New Delhi: Keeping in view the growing need to create more COVID-19 testing facilities across the country, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has notified detailed guidelines for private laboratories.
According to the guidelines issued on Saturday, the maximum cost should not exceed Rs 4500, i.e., Rs 1500 for screening test for suspect cases and an additional Rs 3000 for confirmation test.
ICMR also said that all private laboratories that have NABL accreditation for real-time PCR SA for RNA virus will be allowed to conduct COVID-19 tests. These private laboratories were notified by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday night.
ICMR has further urged free or subsidized testing by the private labs.
