Bhubaneswar: Odisha may continue to experience thunderstorm activity, rain and gusty wind till April 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
Yellow warning of Kalbaisakhi or nor’westers, which generally strike in the afternoons or evenings, has been issued for several districts for five days. The day temperature is expected to gradually rise by 2-3°C across the state after three days.
On Thursday, thunderstorm/lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Gajapati and Ganjam. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh, and Sundargarh.
Light to moderate rain is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak and at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, and Sundargarh districts.
