Red Alert: Afghan Passports With Indian Visas Seized From Kabul Office
Kabul: A group of unidentified Urdu-speaking people stormed into an office in Kabul and seized Afghan passports with stamped Indian visas.
Indian security agencies handling immigration are on red alert after the daring incident involving the agency which deals with distribution of Indian visas on behalf of Indian Missions in Afghanistan, reported Hindustan Times.
The incident happened on August 15, the day Taliban entered Kabul to complete their takeover of Afghanistan, but came to light on Wednesday.
The Indian Mission in Kabul is going through its data to identify those Afghans who were given Indian visas with the help of the outsourcing agency for distribution.
Once identified, those Indian visas will almost surely be cancelled.
India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has been on alert since the evacuation exercise was started by Ministry of External Affairs and National Security teams on August 16. Every passenger wishing to travel from Kabul to Delhi is being screened to check his past as well as his travel documents.
