Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Purnendu Pattnaik passed away on Friday while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 53.
Purnendu is survived by his mother, wife and a son.
A popular name in Odisha’s media fraternity, he worked with different news organisations, including ETV, Naxatra News, Focus Odisha, News World Odisha, Doordarshan and All India Radio.
Purnendu had met with an accident a few days ago and was admitted to Capital Hospital. He returned to his residence after being discharged following initial treatment.
However, he was again shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar after his condition deteriorated later. Despite best efforts of doctors, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the hospital on Friday morning, sources said.
His mortal remains will be taken to Swargadwar in Puri for last rites.
Purnendu’s demise has deeply saddened his colleagues and those associated with the media sector.
