Tesla To Open Fully Owned Stores In India
Bengaluru: Popular electric carmaker Tesla is expected to set up shop in India soon. Unlike other car dealerships, Tesla wants to sell directly in India, that is, set up its own retail outlets.
For this, Tesla is in talks with the Indian government and will have to comply with FDI guidelines for single-brand retail. The company has done so in the US and most places it sells.
The outlets are expected to come up in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru.
Tesla is reportedly looking at commercial spaces for showrooms and service centres.
ARAI recently approved four Tesla models in India.
It is expected to enter the country with the ‘Model 3’ and ‘Model Y’.
Tech giant Apple has also announced plans to open its first fully-owned store in Mumbai.
