Twitter Is Officially X As Musk Announces Complete Domain Transition

New Delhi: Twitter is now officially X with all core systems of the company having been moved to x.com, Elon Musk announced on Friday.

Musk shared in a post on the microblogging site that the site has fully migrated to x.com and posted a picture of the logo with a white X on a blue circle.

The official handle of X also had a post about the domain change and read: “x dot com.”

Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 in a $44 billion deal and announced its rebranding in July 2023. Since then, besides being rebranded as ‘X’, many changes have been seen including ‘tweets’ being called ‘posts’ and ‘retweets’ as ‘reposts’.

“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities,” the company’s CEO Linda Yaccarino had posted in July 2023.

Musk’s fascination with X dates back to 1999 when he initiated X.com, an internet bank that subsequently amalgamated with PayPal. Twenty years later, he repurchased the X.com domain from PayPal.
