Vigilance Apprehends Additional CTO Taking Rs 2 Lakh Bribe In Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur
Jagatsinghpur: Vigilance officials apprehended an additional commercial tac officer (ACTO) on charge of taking Rs 2 lakh bribe in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday.
Following a complaint by a glass and plywood dealer that Prakash Chandra Sahoo, additional CTO, CT & GST, Enforcement Unit, Paradip was demanding undue advantage (bribe) Rs 2,00,000 for not taking any action against him following an inspection of his business site and verification of records carried out in May, Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe money and the Vigilance sleuths caught Prakash red handed while accepting it. The Vigilance also recovered and seized the entire amount from the possession of Prakash.
Following the trap, residential house of Prakash located at Olavara in Kendrapada district is being searched from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under PC Act, 1988 in this connection and launched an investigation.
