Baripada: A giant poisonous snake suddenly entered a room in a girls’ hostel in Badasahi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday, sparking panic among students.
Sources said the incident took place at the girls’ hostel located at Gudialbandh under Badasahi block as the dight-foot-long snake quietly slithered into the room where several students were studying.
After noticing the giant the reptile, the students got frightened students and rushed out of the room. Hostel authorities immediately swung into action to ensure everyone’s safety.
After being informed about the incident by the hostel caretaker, Sasmita Gochhayat of Snake Helpline immediately rushed to the hostel and carried out a careful rescue operation.
The snake was safely captured without causing any harm to the students or hostel staff. Following the rescue, it was released into a nearby forest in accordance with wildlife conservation protocols.
The incident underscores the importance of prompt response and trained wildlife rescuers in handling such emergencies, particularly during the monsoon season when snakes frequently venture into human habitations in search of dry shelter.
