4 Labourers Killed & 3 Injured After Coming Under Goods Train In Odisha’s Jajpur
Jajpur: Even as people of Odisha are yet to get over the shock of the train accident in Balasore, 4 persons were killed as the wagon of a goods train ran over them in Jajapur on Wednesday.
As per reports, 7 labourers were engaged in track repair work near Jajpur Road station in the district. As thunderstorm accompanied by strong surface wind hit the place and it started raining, they went to take shelter under a wagon of the goods train standing there. The stationary train did not have the engine.
While the labourers were waiting for the rain to stop, the train started moving apparently due to heavy wind. While 3 labourers managed to wriggle out, 4 others came under the wheels of the wagon.
Three of four labourers died on the spot and another was critically injured. The locals rushed him to Jajpur hospital where he succumbed. The labourers, who had managed come out from under the wagon, also sustained critical injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Cuttack.
As tension gripped the area following the incident, police have rushed to the spot to maintain law and order.
