Bengaluru: Odisha’s para athletes did the state proud at the 8th Indian Open International Championships which concluded at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Thursday.
The Odisha team bettered its earlier performance with a rich haul of 18 medals. Their collection included 8 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals.

In a standout showing, two-time Paralympic champion Sumit Antil, from Haryana, shattered his own world record in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 category. His massive throw of 74.82 metres surpassed his previous mark of 73.29 metres.
