Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for five districts of Odisha till 7.30 pm on Sunday.
Moderate thunderstorm, rain, hail, lightning and surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur at isolated places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapada in the next 3 hours.

Red Warning: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (60-70 kmph), hailstorm and heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places in the districts of Kandhamal and Gajapati.
Orange Warning: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam and Nayagarh.
Hailstorm & heavy rainfall are also likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore.
People in these 10 districts have been advised to keep watch on weather and move to safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect themselves from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas. Also harvesting of crops may be regulated judicially and farmers are advised to use hail nets to protect vegetables and crops from hail.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (40-50 kmph) is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in the districts Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri & Khurda.
With the intensity of thunderstorm activity expected to gradually subside thereafter, the MeT office has predicted a rise in the maximum temperature by 2-3°C across the state during the next 4-5.
