Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for four districts of Odisha, valid until around 4 pm on Tuesday.
Mayurbhanj is bracing for severe thunderstorms, heavy-to-moderate rainfall, and damaging wind gusts reaching up to 70 kmph until 3:27 pm. Similar conditions, with winds peaking at 60 kmph, are expected to impact Angul, Keonjhar, and Rayagada until 3:52 pm.
The IMD has urged residents to stay vigilant and monitor local weather updates. Anyone outdoors is strongly advised to seek immediate shelter if conditions deteriorate, ensuring safety from potential lightning strikes and high winds.
The weather agency has issued an orange warning of intense thunderstorms for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on June 2-3. Likewise, a yellow warning has been sounded for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh during the period. The day temperature is also expected to gradually rise by 2-4°C during the next 5 days.
