Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s helicopter was unable to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar due to sudden and severe inclement weather triggered by a Nor’wester (Kalbaishakhi) late Monday afternoon.
The Chief Minister, along with State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, was on his way back to the capital city after an official programme in Mayurbhanj district when a sudden spell of Kalbaishakh brought strong winds and torrential rain, severely compromising visibility and safety conditions over Bhubaneswar. Following which, the chopper had to be diverted and the pilot performed an emergency landing at an temporary bus stand ground at Samanga in Puri, around 4:30 pm.
Officials have confirmed that CM Mohan Majhi will return to Bhubaneswar once the weather stabilises and clear transit conditions are restored.
