Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain is likely to lash several parts of Odisha over the next three days as southwest monsoon may enter the state over this weekend, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at some places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Malkangiri on June 11, while heavy downpour has been forecast for some parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati districts on June 12.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely to pound some places over the districts of Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri on June 13.
The weather agency said that conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu & southwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of west-central & northwest Bay of Bengal and West Bengal, some parts of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand & Odisha during next 3-4 days.
In its midday weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state during next two days. Thereafter, the temperature is set to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius.
The MeT Centre has issued an orange warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching up to 50-60 kmph) for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh during the next 24 hours
Similarly, yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, and Ganjam during the period.
Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh during the period.
On June 11-12, the weather agency has issued an orange warning of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching updto 50-60 kmph) and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
