New Delhi: With just nine days to go for the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam, the government is tightening preparations to ensure a smooth and secure process.
On Friday, Cabinet Secretary Dr T V Somanathan held a meeting with the director general of National Testing Agency (NTA) to review its readiness.
The meeting focused on coordination, security arrangements and measures to maintain students’ and parents’ confidence in the crucial all-India medical entrance exams.
Dr Somanathan stressed on the need for a transparent, secure and well-coordinated conduct of the exam, which was originally held on May 3 but had to be subsequently cancelled due to a paper leak.
Asserting that the Central government, state governments and district administrations are working closely to ensure a smooth re-exam on June 21, the Cabinet Secretary issued a strong warning against any attempt to interfere with the process.
“The full might and weight of the law will fall on any person trying in any manner to distort, disrupt or tamper with the integrity or smooth conduct of the re-examination,” Somanathan stated.
This was the latest in a series of meetings as part of an all-out effort by the government to monitor preparations for the NEET re-examination.
Earlier in the day, NTA announced a set of candidate-friendly measures for the re-exam.
To eliminate any possibility of question paper leakage, all experts preparing the re-exam paper have been isolated at a secure location with no outside contact until June 21.
Other security measures include compartmentalised processes, GPS tracking, AI-enabled CCTV, biometric checks, and IAF-assisted paper transport.
