Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has stepped preparations for the upcoming visit of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mayurbhanj district.
The President is scheduled to arrive in Rairangpur on June 19 as part of the celebrations marking the completion of two years of the state government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the main state-level celebrations to be held on June 20.
As part of efforts to ensure smooth conduct of the visit, a high-level state preparatory meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairpersonship of Chief Secretary Anu Garg. She reviewed all arrangements in detail and directed officials to complete preparations within the stipulated timeline.
A mega public programme is scheduled at Dandabosh in Rairangpur on June 20, where both the President and the Prime Minister will participate in events commemorating the state government’s two-year milestone.
During the programme, they will inaugurate several development projects, lay foundation stones for new infrastructure initiatives, and address a public gathering. Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are also slated to attend.
Before the public event, the President and the Prime Minister will visit Pahadpur in Rairangpur, where they are slated to participate in local programmes and tour an exhibition showcasing regional achievements and initiatives.
The review meeting was attended by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Home, Industries, and Information & Public Relations Hemant Sharma, Director General of Fire Services Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, senior officials from various departments, police authorities, representatives of Doordarshan and telecom agencies, along with other key stakeholders. Officials from Mayurbhanj district, including the Collector, Eastern Range IG, and Superintendent of Police, joined the meeting virtually.
Officials said discussions focused on security measures, protocol arrangements, convoy management, helipad readiness, airport logistics, accommodation for guests, healthcare facilities, fire safety, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, road infrastructure, sanitation, telecommunications, and media coordination. Special Secretary of the Home Department, Radha Kishan Sharma, presented the status of preparations.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg stressed the importance of seamless coordination among departments and district authorities, regular monitoring of progress, and adherence to timelines. She directed officials to ensure the highest standards of security, protocol, and logistical management throughout the tour of the VVIPs.
