Nabarangpur: A woman and her daughter died after being struck by lightning while plucking fruits from a tree at a village in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
The incident took place at Nunpani village under Kosagumuda tehsil of the district. The deceased have been identified as Dayamati Muduli (45) and her daughter Champa Muduli (22).

According to sources, the two had gone to their agricultural field to collect Kusum fruit (Ceylon oak) from a tree when the weather suddenly turned inclement. Heavy rain and thunderstorms lashed the area, during which the two were hit by lightning in field.
The impact of the lightning strike proved fatal, and both were found dead on the spot.
